I just got over a pretty nasty case of the flu last week.  Normally, I would work from home when I don’t feel well enough to make myself presentable and go infect others in the office, but this time the gloves were off, and this bug was kicking the shit out of me.

I woke up on Tuesday morning only to email my team that I wasn’t coming in, and then proceeded to pass out on my couch until 6:30pm.  I felt better, but still sick, and was worried that I wasn’t going to be able to fall asleep that night.  Sure enough, I was out like a light at 11.  You know you really need rest when that happens.

I doubt anyone really enjoys being sick, since it’s a classic example of your body rebelling against you despite your best efforts over the years to take reasonably good care of it.  What I do enjoy about the process, however, is the feeling you get once the bug has run its course and you’re back to normal, because at that point you notice how good “normal” feels and how often you take advantage of the feeling.  The experience is always short-lived, but always one I appreciate.
